I absolutely love Barn Happy! It is one of my favorite places to meet up with friends and family, whether for just coffee or for a tasty breakfast or lunch. It is a relaxed atmosphere, and seating is surrounded by an array of products and handmade goods from Iowa artisans and vendors, so you can gift shop while you are there. MY sister took our Mom and me to Barn Happy just outside of Cedar Falls, Iowa. We had a delightful time! You do need reservations so be sure to call ahead as it is a very popular venue!! We ate lunch there and found it to be very tasty and they offer a nice variety and even Gluten Free. Their specialty desserts are incredibly delectable! The staff is very friendly and it is a well oiled machine in efficiency. They also have several vendors who display their artifacts throughout the barn restaurant (so much to see and purchase if you find something you can't resist-and you probably will). IF you are interested in renting a facility for an event; they can also accommodate that. This place should be on your MUST VISIT list so you can experience it yourself
If you're anywhere near the Cedar Falls area, you MUST stop into Barn Happy. Truly one of the BEST places in the Cedar Valley; you'll definitely leave HAPPY!
While visiting family in the area they brought us here for lunch. My oh my people. What a gem . As you enter the lower section of this big beautiful barn you realize your home on the farm. The decor is lovely. Amazing Iowa products for sale all over. As you enter your right at the coffee bar. Lots to choose from for sure. Next to it is their desert cabinets full of sinful love for your sweet tooth. The food order station is unique with a friendly staff there to help you select your choices. Once it’s ordered go find your assigned table as they will bring it to you. All the tables are different stiles and sizes. Reminds me of the tables we used back in the days. The food was delicious and home made. The strawberry cheese cake was off the charts! What a nice touch to have the owner Kim come by and ask how check in us. She has great a great warm family place. Welcoming eclectic atmosphere. Variety of homemade goodies as well as mass produced retail items. Main room contains the cafe with surrounding retail. Upstairs contains more retail. Bought an Almond Bar, Iowa State Map and Des Moines restaurant book.
Such a cozy place! The restaurant portion of the barn offers classic comfort food, Iowa-made goodies, and friendly smiles from employees who show so much care to the point that you’ll probably forget you aren’t one big family. Upstairs is a genuine hayloft filled with antiques. Seeing this part of the barn genuinely made my jaw drop, it was incredible. Overall, my boyfriend and I couldn’t stop smiling and saying “this is so cute!” while we spent our anniversary at Barn Happy. We’ll definitely be back!
A friend & I had lunch recently at Barn Happy. I had been there a few years ago & she never had the opportunity to go. It was delightful and the homemade food was delicious. We each had a cup of asparagus potato soup, half a crab sandwich, and apple bacon coleslaw. For dessert we shared a slice of 4-layer coconut cake & their 1st day offering of Cinnamon Bun Cheesecake. Everything was delicious! The dining area offers a wide variety of miscellaneous things for purchase & upstairs features numerous consignment booths. (We both left with 'treasures'.) On top of the great food, all of the employees were wonderful. This is a fabulous place for a ladies lunch. (They do take reservations and at times are very busy.)
This place is superb. The service was old world spectacular. I have the ham broccoli and cheese quiche. The quiche was light and flavorful, with perfect texture. The pecan pie is to die for. I would definitely go back.
